Vintage darling... April's Caravan, Lyneham

The lovely Miss April herself, gracious host of April's Caravan, a vintage clothing sale/event that is a must.

Event? you ask... well there were bands, tea on the astroturf, a book signing and a jumping castle! Look out for the next one: www.facebook.com/aprils.caravan

What a great fitting jumpsuit on Min Mae...

Kelly Doust author of A Life in Frocks, see her website: www.thecraftyminx.com.au

The beautiful sounding Chanel Cole and Adam Cook, who did a great rendition of Bob Marley's Could this be Love and Chimchimney amongst other songs.
...and Chanel's stockinged legs!

Might I point out that April's dashing ladies have had their hair styled by Rhubard and Me

Whiskers, Holdens & Skulls

...and my purchase.

[note: please let me know if my captions are wrong, I could've been heady from all the vintage]

Self Made... Mad Hatter's Garden Party, Belconnen Arts Centre

Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) first year fashion students were invited to parade their race day wear at the new Belconnen Arts Centre on Melbourne Cup Day, the majority of the dresses were made and modelled by the designers themselves, enjoy:

[note: suit not made by student]

Like mum like daughter, this red fascinator won hat of the day!

This pirate patterned dress was made by the gentleman on the right and is reversible, the other side featuring a white background with animated jungle animals.

[note: purchased dress with vintage fascinator]

[note: dress not made by student, but happy attitude all her own - my favourite model of the day!]

One of the most creative uses of materials is the blue ribbon pictured above, made from packing tape!

The shoes! The FASCINATOR!!!

[note: dress not made by student]

Won best fascinator of the parade!

40 years and Growing... Australian National Botanic Gardens, Canberra

Isn't it cute when couples dress alike? I love their bright contrasting horizontal and vertical knits.

What looks like a dress is actually a culotte like jump suit.
[Side note: culo means bum in Spanish - I wonder if there's any connection to culottes?]
I found out that the couple were actually actors - entertainment for the day - still doesn't mean you cant appreciate a good safari suit...

Going the distance... Woden, ACT

Essential when driving a car like this - enthusiasm and a tweed cap!

Gentleman pictured above explained that the Ceirano is an imported Italian car from the 1920's and that this car club was on its was to Tassie.

Kimono... Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival, Brisbane

C.W. Stoneking...Selina's, Coogee

You've got to admire commitment to a style - C.W's music, persona and all over style is straight from the American South 1920's.

Thanks to him and others (Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings) for bringin it back!
